വിവാദങ്ങള് : ശ്രീരാമകഥയിലെ അക്ഷരപ്പൂട്ടുകള്

ശ്രീരാമന്റെ കഥ, വാല്മീകിരാമായണമായും അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണമായും നമുക്കെല്ലാം സുപരിചിതമാണ്. ഭാരതത്തില് മാത്രമല്ല, മറ്റ് പല രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും രാമന്റെ കഥ പലപല രീതികളില് പാടി പതിഞ്ഞതാണ്. ഇസ്ലാമിക രാജ്യങ്ങളില്പ്പോലും. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്, ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയില് രാമായണം വളരെ വിപുലമായിത്തന്നെ ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. എല്ലാവരും ഭക്തിവിശ്വാസങ്ങളുടേതായ തലങ്ങളിലല്ല രാമായണത്തെ കാണുന്നത്. അങ്ങിനെ വേണമെന്ന് നമ്മള് വാശിപിടിക്കുകയുമരുത്. കാരണം ഒരു ക്ലാസ്സിക് കൃതിയ്ക്ക് കാലാതിവര്ത്തിയായ കരുത്തുണ്ടാകുന്നത് വൈവിദ്ധ്യമാര്ന്ന തലങ്ങളിലുള്ള വ്യാഖ്യാനങ്ങള് അതിനുണ്ടാവുമ്പോഴാണ്. മലയാളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വില്പ്പനയുള്ള പുസ്തകം രാമായണമാണ്. മറ്റൊരു കൃതിക്കും അടുത്തുപോലും എത്താന് കഴിയാത്തത്ര പ്രതികളാണത്രെ എല്ലാ വര്ഷവും വിറ്റുപോവുന്നത്! ശ്രീരാമചരിതം എത്ര പാടിയാലും, എത്ര ഭാഷകളില് വിശദീകരിച്ചാലും മടുക്കാത്ത ക്ലാസ്സിക് കൃതിയാവാന് അതിന്റെ രചയിതാവായ ആദികവി വാല്മീകിമഹര്ഷി പല കാര്യങ്ങളും അതീവ നൈപുണ്യത്തോടെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു വച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ആദികാവ്യത്തില് അതിസൂക്ഷ്മമായി ചിലപ്പോള് നിഗൂഢമായിത്തന്നെ കരുതിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ജ്ഞാനനിധികളുടെ അക്ഷരപ്പൂട്ടുകളെപ്പറ്റി പറയാനാണ് ഞാന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ അക്ഷരപ്പൂട്ടുകളുടെ മാസ്മരികത കൊണ്ടാണ് ഇപ്പോഴും നാം രാമായണം വായിച്ചു വികാരംകൊള്ളുന്നത്. എഴുത്തച്ഛന്റെ അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണം കിളിപ്പാട്ട് മനസ്സിരുത്തി ഒന്നുറക്കെ ചൊല്ലി നോക്കിയാല്, കണ്ണ് നിറയാതെ, തൊണ്ടയില് ഒരു കരച്ചിലിന്റെ നനവില്ലാതെ നമുക്കത് വായിച്ചു തീര്ക്കാനാവില്ല. കാരണം രാമായണത്തിലെ ഓരോരോ സന്ദര്ഭങ്ങളും വായനക്കാരന്റെ ഉള്ളില് അനുരണനം ചെയ്യുന്ന വികാരങ്ങളാണ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്. എല്ലാത്തരത്തിലുമുള്ള കുടുംബബന്ധങ്ങള് മുതല് യുദ്ധവിന്യാസ തത്വശാസ്ത്രം വരെ രാമായണത്തില് കാണാം.
രാമായണ കഥ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും അറിയാം. ശ്രീരാമലക്ഷ്മണഭരത്ശത്രുഘ്നന്മാരുടെ ജനനം, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, ജനകന്റെ കൊട്ടാരത്തില് പരശുരാമ ചാപം ഭഞ്ജിച്ച് രാമന് സീതയേയും ലക്ഷ്മണന് ഊര്മ്മിളയെയും ഭരതന് മാണ്ഡവിയെയും ശത്രുഘ്നന് ശ്രുതകീര്ത്തിയെയും യഥാസമയം വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചത് എല്ലാം നാമെത്രയോ തവണ വായിച്ചും കെട്ടും രസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങിനെ സുഖമായി കൊട്ടാരത്തില് ജീവിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് ശ്രീരാമന് പട്ടാഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള തീരുമാനം ഉണ്ടാവുന്നത്. ദശരഥന്റെ രാജ്ഞിമാരില് പ്രിയപെട്ടവളായ കൈകേയി തനിക്ക് അവകാശപെട്ട വരം ചോദിച്ച് ശ്രീരാമനെ കാട്ടിലയക്കുന്നു. ലക്ഷ്മണനും സീതയും ശ്രീരാമന്റെ കൂടെ കാട്ടിലേയ്ക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ടു. കാട്ടില്ച്ചെന്ന് താമസം തുടങ്ങിയ ശേഷം സീതയെ രാവണന് കട്ടുകൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നതും ഹനുമാന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ സുഗ്രീവസൈന്യമായ വാനരപ്പട രാമന് ഒത്താശ ചെയ്ത് രാവണനെ യുദ്ധത്തില് തോല്പ്പിക്കുന്നതുമായ കഥയാണല്ലോ രാമായണത്തിലുള്ളത്.
രാവണനിഗ്രഹം കഴിഞ്ഞ് അയോദ്ധ്യയിലെത്തിയ രാമന് ഉടനേ തന്നെ പട്ടാഭിഷേകം നടന്നു. ഇത്രയും കഥ കഴിഞ്ഞാല്പ്പിന്നെ ഉത്തരരാമായണമാണ്. രാമായണമാസത്തില് (കര്ക്കിടക മാസം) കേരളത്തില് സാധാരണയായി ഈ ഭാഗം വായിക്കുക പതിവില്ല. രാമരാജ്യം എങ്ങിനെയിരുന്നു എന്തായിരുന്നു എന്ന് നാം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത് ഇവിടെയാണ്. പ്രജകളുടെ ഐശ്വര്യാര്ത്ഥം രാമന് രാജ്യം ഭരിച്ചുവന്നു. സര്വ്വോല്കൃഷ്ടമായ ഭരണം. ബാലമരണങ്ങള് ഇല്ല. ശത്രുക്കള് ഇല്ല. ആരോടുമുള്ള ശത്രുതാമനോഭാവം പോലും എങ്ങുമില്ല എന്നര്ത്ഥം. ഉള്ളില് ശത്രുത ഉണ്ടായിട്ട് 'ഞാന് ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നു' എന്നല്ല, ശത്രുതയെന്ന തോന്നലേ ജനങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ളിലില്ല. ഈ വിധത്തില് ഉദാത്തമായ ഒരു രാമരാജ്യത്തെയാണ് ഗാന്ധിജി ഏറ്റവും ഉത്തമ ഭരണത്തിനുദാഹരണമായി കണ്ടത്.
സീതാപരിത്യാഗ ദുഃഖസങ്കല്പ്പം വെറും കഥാമാലിക
ഇങ്ങിനെ ഉത്തമനായ രാജാവ്, ശ്രീരാമന് ഗര്ഭിണിയായ സീതാദേവിയെ കാട്ടില് കൊണ്ടാക്കി മടങ്ങാന് ലക്ഷ്മണനോട് പറയുകയാണ്. എന്താണ് കാരണം? നാട്ടിലെ ഒരപവാദം, കേട്ടത് പാതി, കേള്ക്കാത്ത പാതി, ശ്രീരാമന് ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു! എന്തൊരു ക്രൂരത എന്നൊക്കെ നമുക്ക് തോന്നാം. അപവാദം എന്തായിരുന്നു? വിഴുപ്പലക്കുന്ന ദമ്പതിമാരുടെ വഴക്കാണ് സന്ദര്ഭം. ഭാര്യ മറ്റൊരിടത്ത് പോയി രാത്രി ചിലവഴിച്ചു തിരിച്ചു വന്നപ്പോള് ഭര്ത്താവിന്റെ ശകാരമിങ്ങിനെയായിരുന്നു: 'വല്ലവന്റെയും വീട്ടില് താമസിച്ചു തിരിച്ചുവന്ന ഭാര്യയെ സ്വീകരിക്കാന് ഞാന് ശ്രീരാമനൊന്നുമല്ല!' രാവണന്റെ കോട്ടയില് താമസിച്ചു തിരിച്ചുവന്ന സീതാദേവിയെ രാമന് സ്വീകരിച്ചതിനെയാണ് അയാള് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചത്. രഹസ്യദൂതന്മാരില് നിന്നും വിവരമറിഞ്ഞ രാമന് സീതയെ സൂത്രത്തില് കാട്ടിലേയ്ക്ക് നാടുകടത്തി എന്നാണ് പൊതുവേയുള്ള കഥ.
സീതയെ കാട്ടില് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുവെന്നുള്ള കാര്യത്തില് രാമനോട് അനുഭാവമുള്ളവര് നമ്മില് ആരൊക്കെയാണ്? രാമനെ എതിര്ക്കുന്നവര് ആരൊക്കെയാണ്? നല്ലൊരു വിവാദവിഷയം തന്നെയാണീ പരിത്യാഗപര്വ്വം.
ഇവിടെയാണ് ഞാന് ആദ്യം പറഞ്ഞ അക്ഷരപ്പൂട്ടിന്റെ താക്കോല് വാല്മീകി നമുക്കായി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു വെച്ചത്. വിവാദമാണ് പൂട്ട്; ആത്മാനുസന്ധാനമാകുന്ന താക്കോലിട്ടു തിരിക്കുകയാണ് അത് തുറക്കാനുള്ള ഏക പോംവഴി. കാലമുള്ളിടത്തോളം ഈ വിവാദവിഷയം ഒരു സമസ്യയായി, ചര്ച്ചാവിഷയമായി തുടരും. തുടരണം എന്നാണ് മഹര്ഷിയുടെ ആഗ്രഹവും. കാരണം, ഒരു കഥ, അതും രാമായണംപോലെ സംഭവബഹുലമായ കഥ അവസാനിക്കുമ്പോള്, 'അങ്ങിനെ രാജാവും രാജ്ഞിയും ഏറെക്കാലം സന്തോഷമായി ജീവിച്ചു' എന്ന് അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാല്പ്പിന്നെ കഥയില് ചോദ്യമില്ല. ചര്ച്ചയുമില്ല. അനുവാചകരില് ധര്മ്മാധര്മ്മങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള ചര്ച്ച തുടര്ന്നു കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കണം, അതിനായി ശ്രീരാമന്റെ കഥ ഒരു നിമിത്തമാകണം എന്ന് നിര്ബന്ധമുള്ള ആദികവി മനപ്പൂര്വ്വം ചെയ്തുവച്ച ഒരു സൂത്രമാണിത്. ഭാരതത്തില് പലയിടത്തും ഇതിന്റെ ചര്ച്ചകള് എല്ലാക്കൊല്ലവും നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. തമിഴ് നാട്ടില് പല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും 'പട്ടിമന്ട്രം' എന്ന ഡിബേറ്റ് വര്ഷാവര്ഷം നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അതില് ഇത്തരം വിവാദപരമായ പുരാണസന്ദര്ഭങ്ങള് എടുത്ത് രണ്ടു വിഭാഗങ്ങളായി ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്യുകയാണ് പതിവ്. പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള് പുതിയതല്ല, പക്ഷെ അവയ്ക്ക് പുതുമയുള്ള വ്യാഖ്യാനങ്ങള് കണ്ടെത്തുകഎന്നതാണ് പുതുമ.
ഇതുപോലുള്ള മറ്റു പല വിവാദവിഷയങ്ങളും രാമായണത്തില് ഉണ്ട്. ബാലിവധം, ശൂദ്രവധം തുടങ്ങിയ പല പ്രവൃത്തികളും ധര്മ്മാധര്മ്മവിവേചനത്തെപ്പറ്റി നമുക്ക് വളരെ വിശദമായി ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്യാനുള്ള അവസരം നല്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഇത്തരം വിവാദങ്ങള് ഇല്ലാത്ത രാമായണം വാസ്തവത്തില് തുലോം വിരസമായിരിക്കും. മാത്രമല്ല, വായിച്ചു മടക്കി വെച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞാല് പിന്നെയൊരിക്കലും തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കേണ്ടതില്ലാത്ത ഒരു പുസ്തകമായി വിവാദമുക്തമായ രാമായണം മാറിയേനെ.
സീതാപരിത്യാഗവിവാദത്തെപ്പറ്റി നമുക്കൊന്ന് വിശകലനം ചെയ്യാം. ആരായിരുന്നു സീതാദേവി? ഭൂമിദേവിയുടെ പുത്രി. അഗ്നിക്ക്പോലും തൊടാന് കഴിയാത്ത പരിശുദ്ധിയുടെ പ്രതീകം! എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല് പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങള്ക്കും അവയുടെ പ്രഭാവങ്ങള്ക്കും അതീതയായ ഭൂപുത്രിയാണ് സീത എന്ന് രാമന് അറിയാതെയിരിക്കുമോ? അങ്ങിനെയുള്ള സീതയെ 'കൊണ്ട് കാട്ടില്ക്കളഞ്ഞു' എന്നാണ് കഥ. കാട്ടില് എവിടെ കൊണ്ടുപോയാക്കാനാണ് ലക്ഷ്മണനോടു പറഞ്ഞത്? വാല്മീകിമഹര്ഷിയുടെ ആശ്രമത്തില്! കയ്യിലുള്ള കാശ് ബാങ്കില് ഡിപ്പോസിറ്റ് ചെയ്യാന് പോകുമ്പോള് സമ്പാദ്യമെല്ലാം ബാങ്കില് കൊണ്ടുപോയി 'കളഞ്ഞു' എന്നാരെങ്കിലും പറയാറുണ്ടോ? നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയ കവയിത്രി വിജയലക്ഷ്മി ഇതേക്കുറിച്ച് 'സീതാദര്ശനം' എന്ന പേരില് ഒരു പ്രൗഢ ഗംഭീരമായ കവിതയെഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതില് സീതയുടെ ദര്ശനപൂര്ണ്ണതയെപ്പറ്റി പ്രതിപാദിച്ചു തുടങ്ങുന്നതിങ്ങിനെയാണ്:
'ഇല്ല പറഞ്ഞയച്ചില്ലെന്നെ രാഘവന്
ഇന്ന് പോകുന്നെന്നു ഞാനേ പറഞ്ഞൊരാള്'
എന്നെ ആരും കാട്ടില് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതൊന്നുമല്ല, ഞാന് തനിയെ തീരുമാനിച്ചുറച്ചു കൊട്ടാരം വിട്ടു പോന്നതാണ്. കാരണം, എന്റെ അമ്മ പ്രകൃതിയാണ്, ഭൂമിയാണ്. അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കലാണല്ലോ കന്നിപ്രസവത്തിനായി സ്ത്രീകള് പോവുന്നത്.
'പോകുമാറില്ലേ മാതൃഗേഹത്തിലേയ്ക്കാ
സന്ന പുത്ര ലബ്ധിക്കായ് വധൂടിമാര്!'
അവിടെയാണ് എനിക്ക് വേണ്ട ശുശ്രൂഷയും സുരക്ഷിതത്വവും കിട്ടുക. മാത്രമല്ല കുട്ടി പിറക്കുമ്പോള് നഗരത്തിന്റെ, രാജകൊട്ടാരത്തിന്റെ ആഡംബരത്തിലേയ്ക്കല്ല, മറിച്ച് പ്രകൃതിയുടെ മടിത്തട്ടില്, മണ്ണും മാനും മൃഗങ്ങളും കിളികളും നിറഞ്ഞയിടത്തുവേണം എന്റെ ഉണ്ണികള് വളരാന്.
'ഉണ്ണികള് കണ് തുറക്കുന്നതെന്നമ്മതന്ന
ങ്കമാം പച്ചിലക്കൂട്ടിലായീടണം'
എന്നാണ് ആ അമ്മയുടെ ആഗ്രഹം.
അവര് നാളെ നാടിനു വേണ്ടി തേരോട്ടേണ്ടവരാണ്. രാജ്യം ഭരിക്കേണ്ടവരാണ്. തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ രാജകുമാരന്മാര് 'തേരേറുന്നതിന്നു മുന്പേ നാടിന്റെ വേരറിയണമെന്ന്' നിര്ബ്ബന്ധമുള്ള അമ്മയുമാണവര്.
മാത്രമല്ല, 'രാജ്യാധികാരം പവിത്രമായ്ത്തീരുവാന് രാമന്റെ ചാരെ ഞാനില്ലാതെയാവണം' എന്ന ഉത്തമമായ അവബോധത്തില് കൊട്ടാരം വിട്ടിറങ്ങിയ രാജ്ഞിയാണ് സീത. ഒരു സ്ത്രീയ്ക്ക് മാത്രം സാദ്ധ്യമാവുന്ന പരിത്യാഗത്തിന്റെ കഥയാണിത്. ശ്രീബുദ്ധന് കൊട്ടാരവും കുടുംബവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതിനേക്കാള് ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ, ആത്മജ്ഞാനമെന്ന 'സത്വസ്വാര്ത്ഥത' പോലും തീണ്ടാത്ത പരിത്യാഗം തന്നെയാണിത്. സ്ത്രീപക്ഷപാതിയാവാന് ആരും കൊതിച്ചുപോവുന്ന ആര്ജ്ജവമുള്ള ഫെമിനിസമാണ് നാമിവിടെ കാണുന്നത്. സീതയോടുള്ള സഹതാപം ആദരവിലേയ്ക്ക് ഉയരുന്ന കാവ്യഗരിമ.
കരഞ്ഞു കണ്ണീര്വീഴ്ത്തി നില്ക്കുന്ന ഭാര്യയല്ല, മറിച്ച്, തന്നെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതിന്നുമുമ്പേ 'യോഗവാസിഷ്ഠ'മാണ് രാമന്റെയുള്ളില് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിതമായിട്ടുള്ളത് എന്ന അറിവുള്ളവളാണ് ഈ സീത. അതുകൊണ്ട് 'പരിത്യാഗ ദുഃഖസങ്കല്പ്പം വെറും കഥാമാലിക' യാണെന്ന് സീതാദേവി നമ്മെ ഓര്മ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. വാല്മീകിയുടെ ദര്ശനത്തില്, സീതാപരിത്യാഗമെന്നതിനുപരി, ഇത് സീതയുടെ രാമപരിത്യാഗമാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് സഹതാപവും കണ്ണീരും അര്ഹിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നല്ല, ഈ പരിത്യാഗപര്വ്വം.
യാതൊരു വിവാദവുമില്ലാത്ത ഒന്നായിരുന്നു രാമായണം എങ്കില് ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം ഇപ്പോഴും ഇത്രയധികം ചര്ച്ചചെയ്യപ്പെടുമായിരുന്നോ? രാമായണം എപ്പോഴും എക്കാലത്തും മനുഷ്യരെ ചിന്തിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരുത്തമഗ്രന്ഥമായി ലോകമെമ്പാടും നിലനില്ക്കാനുള്ള കാരണം കഥകളുടെ ഗാംഭീര്യത്തിനുപരി അത് നല്കുന്ന ധര്മ്മാധര്മ്മവിവേചനവിചാരവും അതിലൂടെ സംസിദ്ധമാവുന്ന ആത്മാന്വേഷണപ്രചോദനവുമാണ് എന്നെനിക്കു തോന്നുന്നു. അതായത് വാല്മീകിയുടെ അക്ഷരപ്പൂട്ടുകളാണീ വിവാദങ്ങള്.
ആത്മാനുസന്ധാനമാകുന്ന താക്കോലിട്ടു തിരിച്ച്, അരണി കടഞ്ഞ് അഗ്നിസ്ഫുലിംഗങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതുപോലെ നമ്മില് ആത്മജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ആലക്തികപ്രഭ പരത്താന് ഈ വിവാദപര്വ്വങ്ങള്ക്ക് കഴിയുന്നു. മാത്രമല്ല, 'ആത്മപ്രകാശത്തിന്നാലക്തിക പ്രഭ ഒരുമാത്രമിന്നിയാല് പോരും' എന്ന് സുവിദിതവുമാണല്ലോ !

Jan is looking at the sun. His eyes are too deep. He looks at the *
Sun for some minutes and takes a copper plate from his pocket. *
COPPER PLATE ON CLOSE SHOT. *
A diagram is on the copper plate “shrichakra” and a small red *
stone at the center of the diagram. *
Jan takes the copper plate and faces it to the Sun. When sun rays *
fall on the plate a small beam of light reflected from the center *
of the diagram. He points this beam of light towards the prison’s *
metallic window. The rays cuts the metallic window. He keeps the *
copper plate in his pocket and jumps out of that cage through that *
window. He looks back at the cave and dead bodies all around. *
STILL SHOT ON DEAD BODIES. *

Alex is breathing hardly, bleeding . So he tries to turn his body to *
lie on his back. Alex closes his eyes.. *

9 INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT 9 *
Bedroom *
Alex and his girl friend are on the bed, kissing each other, Alex’s *
wife withdraws after enjoying a deep kiss from the bed and goes *
out of the room. She returns with a bottle of wine and two *
glasses. She pours the wine in to two glasses and offers a glass to *
Alex. *
BETTY *
We would be richer and richer on the *
coming up days. Its ours and I am all *

Alex lying on his back. He has his eyes Closed something suddenly *
falls on Alex’s face, it frightened Alex. A small rat.. It runs to the *
corner of the cave. Alex trying to stand up suffering the strain *
holding the walls he moves to the door and pushes it. No results. *
Tries to push the door with shoulders for several times, fails and *
moves to the window, looks out trying to shout only a feeble sound *
comes out from him. *

11 EXT. JUNCTION - EVENING 11 *

Police vehicles surrounds the rough guys vehicle. *
POLICE MAN *

Police men rushes towards the car and get them all arrested. Tv *
reporters surround the incident area. *

Authorities says that they have been *

and got them trapped in this area. *

12 INT. TIDAL CAVES - DAY 12 *
Tiered Alex hardly swallows saliva, thirst on his face, Alex claws *
through the cave getting mad due to thirst, hits the walls of the *
cave trying to pull out stones in the cave and when he pulled out a *
stone accidently, a small stream of water began to flow from that *
place. *
Alex shows gluttony in drinking water from the spring. The flow of *
water is too slow and he couldn’t get a lot but he manages by *
getting few drops to wet his mouth. He searching for some *
vessels to collect water but he finds nothing in that cave. *
He takes a small piece of cloth from his pocket and keeps it in *
the spring. When it got soaked he squeezes the towel and drinks *
water. *
ALEX’S LOOK THROUGH THE WINDOW *
(Alex looks tired but clean shaved, *
short hairs ) *

Alex & Betty sleeping *
Betty wakes up and looks at sleeping Alex, She take the bag and *

Alex is sleeping on the floor. Suddenly a rat falls from the top on *
his body. The rat suddenly starts to run but Alex catches it *

Alex tries to eat but the vomiting tendency makes it hard. *

Alex is with long beards and hair, torned dress *

window. Some sort of curiosity is seen on his face. He keeps *

Alex is watching different things in the Sun. He seems to enjoy *
the visuals. Some sort of mandalas on his eyes lens. The visuals *
come to an end. Alex looks at his hands. He has drawn the visual *
roughly on the ground with his finger. *

15 INT. TIDAL CAVES - DAY 15 *
Alex with much hair and beards. *

Alex is nude, he is wiping his body using water from the spring. *
Different types of chakras (Alex drawn) all around the walls. Alex *
became lean but he is having some energy. *
Alex behaves abnormal by shaking his head, murmuring some thing *
looking down searching for something gets a piece of stone and *
goes to an incomplete picture of a chakra (Mooladhara) and draws *
on it. The light gets down, voice of birds. *
Birds flying through the sky over seas indicating the change of the *
climate. *

17 INT. TIDAL CAVES - MORNING 17 *
Light peeps in to the cave breaking the darkness. *
He sits on a meditating position and receives each ray from the *
sun. Light around the cave and the chakras drawn inside gets *
reflected on these rays. Suddenly a rat falls from the top and *
this time he does nothing. The rat run. He is still looking at the *
sun speaking with his mind. *
Alex closes his eyes. Darkness. *

18 INT. TIDAL CAVES - NIGHT 18 *
Clear sky with stars. *
Alex is sleeping in the cave. Hearing some noise he wakes up and *
looks out. Heavy rain and storm. He sees lightning from the sky *
suddenly a big hit comes faster towards the cave Alex little bit *
frightened, struck for a moment, that lightning falls on the top of *
the cave and something falls on his head and looses his *
consciousness. *

19 I/E. TIDAL CAVES - MORNING 19 *
The cave is broken from the top, *
Light falls in to the cave, brighter.. Alex opes his eyes and realizes *
what happened last night. He looks at the cave an opening from the *
top. Soil erupted in to the cave so that Alex could climb up. Alex *
Climbs up and looks out. He receives the suns rays and shows no *
reflection that commonly happens to a person who was in darkness *
for a long time. *
CUT TO: *
20 EXT. ISLAND - DAY 20 *
Island where the cave rock is situated. *
HIGH ANGLE: CAVE ROCK *
There is no way to get out of this Island, The Only way is to swim. *
Alex jumps to the sea and swims. He relaxes by back stroke and *
then again swims. *

Alex seems like a small spot and then is lost from sight. *

A small fishing boat on the sea. *
An old man fishing with his small fishing boat. No helpers he is *

Linda thinks he is asking her but Erasmus moves to Alex ignoring *
her feelings. Linda gets surprised. *

The sun is golden Alex looks at the beauty of the sun. He walks a *
little towards the riverside where he can watch the skyline of *
Amsterdam lit by the sun. *
Alex looks at the sun breathing in and out simultaneously. Linda
looks at him. Slowly walks towards him and stops at a distance. *
Alex’s face turns little bit red, as he is getting some message
from the sun.
The group is arranging woods for fire, where they practice in the *
evening, A small ground near the riverside. *

LINDA
Is the Sun really talking to you? *
ALEX MONINEKX
Well it is not really talking but giving *
me a message, I have to figure it out. *
The sun is setting down, totally dusk. Linda looking at the setting
sun
LINDA
Is this some type of meditation,
concentrating at the sun?
ALEX MONINEKX
I don’t know , when I concentrate on
the sun, after a few seconds, I can
see a 3 Dimensional image on it. I try
to improvise on it. I always loved
painting but I remember the picture
that I drew always comes from what I
see when I look at the Sun. Before I
used to see these same images in my
dreams, but I couldn’t recall it to
perfection. The images were vague, I
tried to draw it but it turned into
something else on the canvas.
LINDA
When did you start concentrating on
the Sun.. Seeing these images on the
Sun?
Glimpses on Alex’s eyes, Alex closes his eyes, *
ALEX’S CLOSED EYES ON CLOSE SHOT

Dim light inside the cave. *
ALEX’S CLOSED EYES ON CLOSE SHOT.
Alex is hearing a voice.

Come on wake up, look at the sun, look
at the sun... Wake up come on...
Alex opens his eyes looks around , nobody is there. Light falls on
his face through the window , the light looks so special, Alex looks
at the source of the light, he sees the Sun getting little bit
bigger than the normal size. He looks at the sun for some
moments, the expression on his face says that he is watching
something with extreme curiosity.

Practising space, fire on the corner of the ground, Food kept on a table
near the practicing space.

Alex sitting near the fire spot, his full concentration on the fire
as if nothing or no one is present there. Mike is tightening the *
ropes of temporary roof of the work space.
Linda arranging food items on the table, With a piece of meat on a
stick Linda moves towards the fire to cook it. Linda blocks Alex’s
vision,
LINDA
Are you dreaming ?
ALEX MONINEKX
Oh... I was just rewinding the old
memories.
LINDA
What would you like to have for
dinner?
Alex looks at Linda’s face.
ALEX MONINEKX
Anything.. Whatever you serve!!
A smile on Linda’s face, Suddenly she hears voices of people
talking. The voices are nearing,
LINDA
So now its time to start our practice.
Would you like to join us?
ALEX MONINEKX
Why not? But you will have to teach
me. *
MIKE
Hey guys we are ready, Shall we start
after the food ?
Mike moves towards the table where food is arranged.
MIKE (CONT’D)
Linda, can I begin to eat? You know
that I feel very hungry before the
practise? I can’t do anything when I
am hungry.
LINDA
You could take the food in that basket
but we will have to have a discussion
on your salary, You are eating more
than what you earn.
Everybody laughs, Mike searching the food items kept on the
table, not listening to others, takes some food and eats it.
LINDA (CONT’D)
Get ready guys we are going to start.
Alex could you show me some of the
steps you know.
ALEX MONINEKX
No no .... You first *
Linda moves towards him and pulls him by his hands, Music starts,
Alex follows what Linda is doing. Other members join Linda and *
their steps are moving fast, Alex moves away from the dance
floor when all of them reach a fast momentum ... they are
absorbed in their dance and don’t notice him. Alex watching
Linda’s movements closely. Alex is looking at Linda’s tatoo on hip.
Linda is enjoying her dance.

Alex’s bed room *
Alex moves restless in his sleep as if he is having a night mare. *
Linda moves the blanket suddenly from his face. Alex looks a bit *
uncomfortable. He is sweating, Linda looks at him. *
LINDA *
Good morning are you okay? *
He just looks at Linda for a second, gets up from the bed and he *
takes the canvas and brushes from his packets kept on the corner *
of the boat house. Alex moves out of the room... *
CUT TO: *
30 EXT. HOUSE BOAT - MORNING 30 *
A sun view point on the river side.
Alex setting the canvas and prepares to start drawing. He is
facing the sun and is totally concentrated on what he is doing.
CLOSE SHOT : RISING SUN.
CLOSE SHOT: ALEX’S EYES. *
A spark on Alex’s eyes. Alex starts drawing on the canvas, he is
staring at the sun. He just draws looking at the sun not on the
canvas. His eyes are only on the object he draws. It is like he is in *
a trance. *
HIGH ANGLE : ALEX DRAWING.
Moments later Linda comes with two cups in her hand. Sun is rising *
up. Alex closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Linda comes and
stands on his side looking at the canvas.
LINDA
Is it over?
ALEX MONINEKX
Not completed, but it is almost done.
Need to refine it further. Does it
make any sense to you?
LINDA
All I know is that you are doing
something which has a deep meaning
and it fascinates me. *
ALEX MONINEKX *
Yes but I need to know the meaning *
of what I draw.... and why I draw *
these images... The answers to the
many questions that troubles me.. *
LINDA *
Don’t worry you will find the answers
when the time is right.
Linda smiles, a beautiful smile.

With a smile on her face Linda is performing. People are watching
her performance. She bows before the audience after finishing
her performance. Alex entering on a single wheeled cycle. He is
holding a pole to control.

Alex pretending that he is controlling the cycle, though it is
controlled by Mike & Berit.
ALEX MONINEKX
This is not as simple as it looks but
balancing is not a big task, every body
can do it, see how easy it is.
Mike and Berit cuts off their control on the pole. Alex loosing his
control and he falls down. A laughter from the crowd.
ALEX MONINEKX (CONT’D)
Ah I forget to tell you, you can fall
down once in a while.
Alex gets up and stands
ALEX MONINEKX (CONT’D)
But ladies and gentleman here come
the true artists for whom balancing is
really very simple and very beautiful
Mike is controlling the single wheeled cycle, he is tossing bottles .
Berit and Metty are helping him. Both of them climb to the single
wheeled cycle. Mike holds them both, the girls dance.
MIKE
Come on gals...
BERIT
Here we are...
METTY
Me too...
Alex is collecting money from the crowd, he is energetic and funny
with the people.

Linda is looking at Alex. Erasmus is standing next to her. Erasmus

LINDA
He is doing well isn’t he?
ERASMUS
Really good, quite surprising. *

Erasmus is the man passed. A team meeting going on. Linda, Alex
and the other team members are sitting around a rectangular

and Luke on other side. Erasmus sitting on the leading chair. The
table is filled with food items and drinks. Luke looking at a
special dish on the table
LUKE
Wow, thats cool. What are we waiting
for? Lets start or you will have to tie
my hands.
LINDA
Luke control the desires of your
stomach for a few more minutes.
Erasmus wants to tell us something.
ERASMUS
Silence for a moment. *
Every body sitting silent for a minute Luke is still looking on the *
dish he likes. *

Linda looks at his eyes for a moment and then kisses. *
Erasmus walks out and catches them kissing *

Linda gets up and kisses Erasmus. *

Linda running in to the crowd holding Alex’s hand. Alex is running
behind her both of them are in a very good mood. Music and artists
are everywhere on the streets. People are crowded around to
watch performances or the items displayed for sale. Alex and
Linda running through one of these groups. Looks at the centre of
a crowd and withdraws, moves to another crowd.
Alex buys a necklace with some rudraksha for Linda

Linda and Alex move from one group to another. They move to
another side of the street. They stop in front a building.

A hand nearing Linda, Alex suddenly turns as he felt somebody
following. He sees a man standing behind them, with long beard and
different types of tatoos on both hands. He seems to be a
traveller.
MICHAEL
Are u searching for me?
LINDA
Its him!! Michael!!!, we were
desperately seeking you!!
MICHAEL
Is it? I was also expecting you. I knew
you would come here. *
LINDA
Yes, but it is he who needs to see you. *
MICHAEL

clarify some of my doubts.
MICHAEL

About this tatoo, meaning of this tatoo
....what does it mean?
Linda shows the tatoo on her back. They move to a table and sit

Would you like to have the same tatoo

No, no. I would just like to know what
it is?
MICHAEL
This is an Indian design and now very
popular in fashion ramps. Most of the *
people who paste it on their body
don’t know what it is.
LINDA *
Is it related to any religious belief?
MICHAEL *
No, I don’t know whether there is any *
religious concepts behind this, may *
be.... These signs are associated with *
the energy centres in our body which *
are known as the chakras....Chakras *
are centres in the human body which *
are directly and intimately connected *
with those centres in the brain which *
are sleeping, which can help express or *
open those sleeping powers. *
ALEX MONINEKX *
I would like to show you something...
Alex takes his drawings from the carrier on his back, displays it
on the table. Michael looks at the drawings with great interest *
and wonder.
MICHAEL *
Wow, these are perfect depictions of
the ancient chakras. How did you draw *
these?
LINDA
He drew it, looking at the sun...
Michael looks surprised, not clear, looks at Linda for more
explanation.
LINDA (CONT’D)
These are drawn by him.... The
similarity in my tatoo and his drawing
brought him to me.
Michael still looks perplexed
MICHAEL
But you say you saw these images on
the sun?
ALEX MONINEKX *
I used to see these images in my
dreams from my childhood days. But I
couldn’t recall it or draw it completely
on a canvas. I started seeing the *
complete images of my dreams on the
rising sun ...... and drew them on
canvas.. *

I wondered what these images were
and why I draw these.....I did not even
know these meant anything in eastern
philosophy.... I don’t have any
connection to countries such as India.
MICHAEL *
According to ancient eastern *
philosophy,These are actually *
geometric representation of energy
inside the human body.(pause)...I think *
there is some connection with these
pictures and you.
ALEX MONINEKX *
Could you say what it is?
MICHAEL
I don’t know, you have to find it out
yourself. But I could tell you one thing
that all your pictures are perfect in
design. Normally it is not possible to
draw following all the geometrical
rules, but you did it without even
thinking or knowing about them.

But what is the relation between the *
sun and him?
MICHAEL
That’s what I am thinking and trying
to find an answer to.

The energy that we consume comes
from the sun and that may be the
reason why he got this vision.
LINDA
But then why don’t I see it?.... Many
days I followed him and tried to
concentrate on the sun in a kind of
mediatative pose but I never got any
vision like this.
MICHAEL
I think there is a time for everything
.... We will be automatically drawn to it *
when we are ready for it.... There will *
be directions......... directions to *
complete our duty. Every thing in this
world has its own duty, You are on the *
way young man, do it.
Michael looks at Alex eyes deeply. He takes a long breath. *
MICHAEL (CONT’D) *
What about your family?
ALEX MONINEKX
I lost my parents when I was young in *
a car accident. None of my relatives *
are alive. *
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
MICHAEL
I don’t think so, there is somebody
who will be able to tell you what you
need to hear, your intuitions are
leading you on a right path ....just
follow it.
LINDA
I hope some of your doubts have been *
answered?
Linda pulls Alex’s hand to go *
LINDA (CONT’D) *
Lets go and thank you michael. *
Alex looks back at Michael but he is not there. His seat is empty. *

Endless crowd to watch the dance festival. They are enjoying the *
show. Linda is performing contemporary numbers, strong music,
Mike and Metty joins Linda. Once Linda finishes her performance
Alex enters the stage on a single wheeled cycle, he is playing the
role of clown in a circus camp, Crowd laughs at his actions while
trying to balance the cycle with the support of Luke and Berit,
they release their control of the cycle as before but this time
Alex is not falling, he seems to fall but on the last moment he
retains the balance, an applause from the crowd.

Linda takes off blanket from Alex’s face. Alex is on bed , he is
suddenly awoken from his sleep. Linda in a loud voice
LINDA

Linda is in a great mood she is very happy, dancing with joy,
jumping over Alex, hugs him kisses him, Alex is just wondering.
Linda leaves the tent. *

Alex writing a letter. He packs his dresses and canvas. Puts the *
letter in front of the tent some words are written on it” for my *

A village bus station.
Alex steps out of a bus. The bus station is not very crowded with
few people. Alex moves towards a taxi. The driver is an old man.
Alex gets in to the taxi.

I do not know exactly where the place
is but I know it is somewhere down
this road and when we reach it, I will
recognise it. We will have to search a
little. I come here many, many years
back.

The old man plays music inside the taxi. The taxi moves. *

Taxi moves. Alex opens the gate. An old type gate. The farm house
is on a lonely place, Alex walks through the way to the farm house.
He reaches the farm house, the same farm house like in his last
dream. He knocks the door. After a while a lady opens the door.
MARTINA
How can I help you?
ALEX MONINEKX
I am Alex moninekx I think I should *
be here for a reason but I am not *
sure. *
MARTINA
So you are a related to saskia *
moninekx I am her maid already for *
many years and I have never heard
that she had any relatives. She has
been alone since a very long time. *

Martina is almost closing the door on Alex
ALEX MONINEKX
Please, she is the only family member *

I dreamt about you last night. I heard
some body telling me to meet you. I
have had forgotten about you .... I
believed that there was nobody in our
family alive other than me. When I
dreamt about you I decided to meet

MARTINA *

ALEX MONINEKX *
Yes please.. *
Alex and Saskia further their conversation. Martina brings the *
soup in. Martina pours some soup on a soup bowl in front of Alex. *

Darkness, Suddenly a light comes. It is nearing Alex. Someone *
holding a candle light moves to Alex’s bed. The light faces at Alex, *

MARTINA *

wants to show you something. *
Alex is a bit confused but gets up and follows Martina. *

An old Reading room with many paintings and books.
Cobwebs on books and paintings. Saskia Moninekx sitts in front of *
a rack. Nine volumes of Hortus malabaricus kept on a layer, Tenth
and eleventh on another layer, a very old note book is kept nearer
to the eleventh volume.

Alex, could you please take that book?
Alex takes the book, dusts it and gives itto her. She opens that
book, on the first page information about the Author is written.
The name is written as Johannes Moninekx. *

These are our hereditary treasures,

generations. There is nobody other

somebody telling me to pass this

Saskia gives that small book to Alex, he opens that book very old

Rheede, a joint effort for the study
of medicinal plants in the western
ghats of India. I am writing these *
notes on my personal experiences
through out the study.Along my *
journey I got severe ill and an Indian *
man saved my life and said there is *
curable medicine for every disease in *

The diagram is Shriyantra, which Alex has drawn recently on a
canvas. Glimpses on Alex’s face. He sees stars glittering in the *

Just a moment later Alex looks at the old lady and finds her
asleep. He slowly wheels her to the bedroom. Alex helps her to lie
on the bed, kisses her on the forehead. Puts a blanket over her,
she smiles at Alex. Kisses on his fore head and closes her eyes
with a smile.

Light falls on the face, Saskia is sleeping with a slight smiling
face. Day light falls on her face when Martina enters the room and
opens the window curtains. Maid moves towards the bed.
MARTINA
Good morning. *
Martina tries to wake her up, but she is still, Martina screams.

Oh no! *
Hearing the noise Alex comes to the room. Alex looks at the maid,
then the old lady, silence for a minute. *

chest. The maid steps in. Alex opens his eyes.
MARTINA
Here are the keys. My duty is over, *
Mrs Moninekx left a signed testament *
just before she died. Saying you *
heritage everything she owns. *
ALEX MONINEKX *
I would like you to take care of the *
house i have a journey to make, this *
was saskia’s last wish. *
Martina goes out. Alex gets up from the chair moves towards a
rack where he got the note book. He takes another book a diary,
with the sketches of kundalini chakras. But the book was
incomplete. He finds a coin with sun on one side and a chakra on
another side.

Alex holds the coin facing the sun. The suns rays are falling on the
coin. The coin glitters. Alex places the coin on his forehead.
Suddenly a light on Alex’s face. Orange shade on his face, eyes are
wide open, he is excited. The sun shows him which direction he has
to follow.

Gate of the farm house.
A car stops in front of the farmhouse gate. Linda, Erasmus and
the professor get out of the taxi, The old taxi driver, same man
who dropped Alex. Erasmus shows a photograph to Taxi driver.
ERASMUS
Is this the place where you dropped
this man?
TAXI DRIVER
Yes this is it. I saw him walking
through this way to farm house.
LINDA

57 I/E. FARM HOUSE - DAY 57
Front door of the farm house.
Erasmus knocks on the door. Martina the maid comes out. Erasmus
shows her a photograph.
ERASMUS
Madam, we are in search of this
person, Mr. Alex Moninekx, Is he *
here?
MARTINA
He left this morning, his Aunt is no
more.
LINDA
What? He left? Do you have any idea
where he went?
MARTINA
May I know your need?
ERASMUS *
This is an old friend of mine Professor *
van der Burg. He would like to know *
more about Alex.
MARTINA
Oh, I see, Please come inside.
All get inside, the door closes.
MARTINA (CONT’D)
I don’t have any idea about where he
went, he spend most of his time in this
room reading these books.
Martina guides them to the reading room. Professor looks around
the room finding Photograph of the Old lady Saskia on the wall.
MARTINA (CONT’D)
I can’t still believe that she passed
away. It was really mysterious, He
came here two days before, and she
was happy in seeing him. They talked a
lot in the night. I was listening to
their conversation because I never
saw her in such a energetic mood. She
showed him some of these books and
told him that it was the treasure left
for him from his ancestors. She went
to bed very late. The next day morning
when I went to wake her up , she was
dead. *
Professor takes some of the books from the rack of Hortus
Malabaricus. He takes another diary ....turns it.
PROF. JAN VAN DER BURG
Linda, It would be better to leave.
LINDA
Did you get any clues about the place
he may have gone to?
PROF. JAN VAN DER BURG
I think its impossible to find him out.
He is on a path to complete a mission,
A mission started centuries ago. He
may be the person to complete it.
LINDA
Could you please make it clear?
PROF. JAN VAN DER BURG
Alex is on a mission in which he *
appointed by his fate. I think this
mission started centuries ago. In this
book, a very old manuscript, describes
about medicinal plants and the human
body. These big books, Hortus
Malabaricus, which is known as Bible of
medicinal plants, these drawings on
the energy levels of human bodies and
Alex Moninekx are all connected, I
don’t know how but I am sure that
Alex’s ancestors played some
important role. On these notes of *
johannes Moninekx, he may be Alex’s *
grandfather, has described about
Kundalini chakras, which you said was
drawn by Alex. I think this was what
he needed to find out or this may be
the beginning of his voyage.

Linda looks at the professor with grief on her face. Tears on her
eyes. Erasmus is holding her tightly patting on her shoulders.

58 EXT. ROAD - EVENING 58
Taxi moving through the road.
Linda, Erasmus and The Professor traveling on a taxi. Linda looks

EXT. STREET 4 - EVENING
Setting sun, street with buildings on both sides
Sun is setting down. Endless road, sun touches at the end of the
road.
SUN ON WIDE ANGLE.
Alex is walking through the road facing the sun. He is walking to
wards the sun.
BACK VIEW.
Alex is carrying bags on his back. Alex walking towards the sun.
The sun has a golden touch.
